Duck Pond
The average garden pond will probably never see ducks as one of its inhabitants even if they stop by for a brief visit and depending on the type of duck you may not want them as there are a few species that eat fish, like the Goosander. But most of them live off of aquatic organisms and water weed.
I don’t really know a lot about ducks, but thought I would touch on them as a worthy visitor to a pond or even a pet like the fish. So here are my thoughts on the subject of Duck and Pond ( I am not talking about the pub).
You may be fortunate to have a large garden and have built a pond on lake proportions, in which case it may well attract some ducks that might stay for a while. There are people that keep ducks as pets although I am not sure how easy they are to keep as I don’t know enough about them to keep them as pets.
I would imagine that if you did keep them as pets that you would have to have your pond enclosed to keep them in and provide them with some kind of shelter. They are the type of pet that would not be best suited as a solo as ducks are flock animals. They are also long living animals so that should be taken into account if the thought of keeping ducks appeals.
Ducks can be funny animals to watch, they seem to fool around a lot, so keeping them is probably a lot of fun. It is worth doing plenty of research before deciding to keep ducks. On the other hand if you are lucky enough to have a large pond that has attracted ducks to it, then just enjoy them while they stay.
I guess you could always let them use the pool!
