FEEDING YOUR FISH
Now we have got our pond stocked with our choice of fish it is time to make sure we feed them properly to keep them happy and healthy.
There are a variety of different makes of fish food available and they come in flakes, pellets, tablets and granules and you can even get live fish food of river shrimp and blood worm. All these foods will provide your fish with vitamins and nutrients to keep them in good health. There is not a better food than all the others that I would recommend as this decision is more down to personal choice and testing of which food your own fish seem to like best. So pick one and try it and if your fish like it then you can stick with it, if not then try another until you find one that you and your fish are happy with.
If you have a pond with plenty of plant life and your pond is becoming established then there will be natural food that your fish will consume, but don’t rely on this alone. When you feed your fish add a small amount first to see how quickly the fish consume it, if it goes quick add a little more, but don’t add to much the right amount should be gone within about 10 minutes. So if there is any food left floating after ten minutes then remove it with a net, otherwise it will sink and if not eaten can pollute the water as it rots.
You can feed your fish twice a day sometimes three if needed, the fish will not need as much food during the winter months and once a day is normally enough. There are winter and summer foods which contain different levels of vitamins for the fishes needs during different seasons. So be sure to look at what you are buying.

Thanks for the tips. The ten minute rule is good to follow, even if fish eat the extra food it doesn’t matabolize and passes throw. Then rots and pollutes. Great post.
