Goldfish
THE MOST COMMON POND FISH
The humble Goldfish, the most common kept fish in outdoor ponds as well as indoor tanks. There are a wide variety of Goldfish, they come in all shapes and colours..
The Goldfish also originate from the carp species in fact it was the prussian carp which is a brown/grey colour that they were bred from and domesticated into goldfish. They have not only been bred in different colours but also different exotic shapes such as the Shubunkins with their long slender bodies, large fins and multitude of colours or the Ryukin which is a fancy goldfish that almost looks like it has been squashed, it doesn’t have the sleek body of the common Goldfish. There is the Black More goldfish which isn’t actually gold at all but as you would expect from its name, it is black.
Any way the list of different types of goldfish seems endless, which means there are to many for me to mention every one of them here so I may look at several different types in more detail in later posts. But a least there are plenty of goldfish to choose from when you are going to stock your pond.
What ever type of goldfish you do decide to get for your pond, the same process applies when introducing them to the pond as the way I described in the Koi post here. The big difference between the many types of goldfish that are available and the Koi fish is that goldfish are a fraction of the cost of there friends the Koi. So it is going to be a far more modest expense to stock your pond with a variety of goldfish than with Koi.
Go and checkout the many types of goldfish while you are waiting for your pond to settle down ready for fish.
