THE GREAT GOLDEN ORFE

The Orfe what can I say, I just love these fish. They are known as the Golden Orfe and are a brilliant fish to add to any pond.

The Orfe are a slick built fish that are a Orange/gold colour although you can get blue Orfe, which colours range from a blue/grey to almost black. These fish are lively fast swimming fish, they’ve even been known to jump out of a pond altogether, but we don’t want that do we. Some describe the Orfe as a bottom of the pond fish and some say they are surface fish. In my experience they are all over the place a lively active fish that are OK with other fish like the others we have mentioned (Koi, Goldfish and Tench) and generally seem to have a good time.

They are great looking fish and grow pretty fast compared with other fish and get to quite a large size, so if you have a small pond then they are probably not suitable as they like space and believe me they use it. If you do decide to go for the orfe which would be a great choice then its a good idea to buy more then one, preferably 3 or 4 as they do naturally swim in shoals.

So again it is your choice whether to consider the Golden Orfe or Blue Orfe as a worthy contender for your Pond. They are a fish that is definitely worth taking a look at .You have a few different types of fish to consider now for your pond, from the Tench who will take up residence as the pond cleaner, the common Goldfish that you can always depend on and the Koi with its almost regal persona. But don’t rule out the Golden Orfe the lively fish that loves to lark about.
