Pond Designs

Today with modern materials and the extensive different types of preformed ponds, as well as pond liners, we can go mad with our pond designs. We can build any size and shape of pond that we put our minds to, so if you have a vision, then get that vision down on paper and start planning your extravagant garden pond.

It may be that you are not planning to put it in the garden, there are many people these days actually building their ponds indoors, an amazing indoor feature if you can make it happen. There is no real reason why it cannot be built indoors, apart from may be having the space to do so, but if your house is a big one then it may be worth your consideration.

Back to designing your garden pond, there are no real limitation whether inside or outside, just take a look at this famous and unusual design that was in an earlier post Pond Edging, quite a unique design I think you will agree. Just by taking a look at that pond, I am sure you can see that there is no design that cannot be built.

Now obviously the more extravagant the shape and size of your pond, the more expensive that it will be, so if you are on a tight budget then you will probably have to settle for a basic size and shape, but if your budget is large or unlimited, then you can go mad with your pond. But remember that once you have the vision down of how you want your pond to look, don’t forget to plan everything around it before you start to build it.

The planning stage of any pond small or large, is the most important part of construction, so make sure everything is included. Think of the water supply and the electric supply, make sure you plan where your filters are going to be housed, as well as skimmer placement if you are to have one fitted and the same goes for waterfalls. There are many things to consider and it is worth making a check list so nothing is forgotten, it is a lot more difficult to add these things on afterwards if they are left out.

The thing to remember though, as long as you plan everything in advance then your pond construction should run smoothly, whatever shape or size, just have fun with it and you will enjoy the finished pond for years to come.
