Pond Fountain
A NICE TOUCH
Fountains are a great option for any pond and if you like the sound of water then they are a must have accessory. Although a fountain is a fountain you can get different
Jets that will change a fountains appearance and flow. From the jet that makes your fountain look like a bell shape with a more gentle flow to the foaming jet. There are many to choose from. You can have your fountain work off the same pump as your filter if that pump is of adequate sizeĀ and has more than one outlet. But if you do run it off the same pump as your filter then the fountain will have to run constantly. It is far better to have a separate pump for your fountain so you can turn it off if need be, which maybe of a night as the fountain will sound a lot louder than during the day. Also if your dedicated pond pump has more than one outlet then you could also add a splitter to it as well.
What is a splitter ? A splitter is an ornament that will stand on the edge of the pond or on a rock in the pond that protrudes above the surface of the water. The splitter is also connected to the pump and works in the same way a fountain does but instead your splitter may be an elephant and the water would flow out of its trunk and back into the pond. There are a huge variety of splitters and all of them do the same thing. There is another thing that fountains and splitters do for your pond and that is to help the aeration of the water which is beneficial to the fish.
I did mention a bit about fountains in an earlier post when we were setting up the pond but I thought I would elaborate a bit, so this is why I gave fountains its very own post.
