Pond Landscaping

POND DECORATION

Although a lot of the landscaping around your pond may have been done when you first built your pond, there may be still some to do. You might just want to change the landscape around your pond.

There is so much scope when it comes to how the area around your pond looks. If you have a waterfall then the area around this is probably built up to accommodate the waterfall and its workings. So although in this part you may not be able to change it much, you can still change the appearance around the waterfall. You might want to build up a rockery with some great shrubs. Just changing plants can give a totally different look to the waterfall area.

Take time to think about what you want when pond landscaping. Do you want the pond to blend in with the surrounding garden or do you want it to stick out so as not to be missed. It is a good idea I think to keep one side of the pond clear of plants or obstructions, not only to get to the pond easier for maintenance but also for viewing.

A pond looks great when it has a feature to one end and one side, leaving the other end and side clear. If you go for a rockery then think about the inclusion of some lights to create a great feature after dusk. If you have your pond set in your lawn which always looks great, then do be careful when mowing the lawn not to get loads of the cut grass in the pond.

What ever kind of pond landscaping you decide to go for make sure you enjoy it and that it is easily maintained in the future. The finished pond will look great and be an asset to your home.

Good ideas. I recently added some lights to the pond and really love the new vibe it gives off. I used a combination of surface lighting and submersible, color-changing lighting and really love being able to mess with all the angles and colors. Ive also been thinking about adding some string lighting too.
