Pond Net

One big concern with a pond is keeping your fish safe from predators, you have spent time and money on your fish and the home that you have created for them, the last thing you want is to discover they have all disappeared.Raccoons are a threat to our fish as are cats and obviously there are an array of birds that pose a threat day and night. Now there are plenty of other creatures that can be a threat to our fish, but you get the idea, we have to try and keep our fish safe.

Probably the most vunerable time for our fish is during the night or early hours of the morning. Pond lighting can help to put off some predators but the obvious protection is some kind of netting. There are plenty of ways that you can put a netting over your pond, but it has to be said that some don’t really set the fish pond off when it comes to looking good.

I have seen a chicken wire construction that is raised and spans the whole pond area, now while this does a pretty good job of protecting our pond inhabitants it doesn’t look nice and you can’t really enjoy the beauty of the pond. You can fix a fine netting across the pond from the outer edges and if done right doesn’t look to bad.

By far the best type I have come across is the floating pond netting while this protects your fish without looking awful it also stops leaves and other debris from getting into the pond. They really are a great piece of pond kit and very reasonable on the wallet.
