Turtle
Have you ever thought of keeping a Turtle in your pond garden. It is a novel idea and would be a great addition to any pond. I think it would depend on where you live as to whether your climate would be ideal for a turtle as an addition to your pond.
If you live in a pretty warm climate then you may be able to keep a turtle in your pond all year, but if you climate is some what cooler then it would not be advisable to leave the turtle outdoors in the colder months.
If you were considering having a turtle in your pond then it would be advisable to research the different species and what their normal habitat is like, this way you can build or adapt your pond to the kind of conditions that they are used to and then they will be happier and have more chance of flourishing.
Another thing to consider is that they do get out of the water sometimes so would need an easy way out and some where to bask in the sun. Also they may need to be fenced in some how as they may wonder to far away from the pond and become more vunerable.
I have never really thought about having a turtle in my pond and the only reason I have added this post is by accident. I was surfing Youtube the other day and checking out some of the pond videos, when I came accross one that had a turtle in it. The owner used to keep it indoors but it out grew its tank, so they built a pond for it. In the video you can see both the turtle and some fish living happily together and having lunch.
Here is the video I stumbled accross, it is only a very short video so take a look and watch the turtle having lunch.
